Sri Durgamba bus service was started in the year 1975 with a bus service between Ajri, Kundapura and Hallihole by Mr. S. Sachidananda Chatra. Subsequently with his brothers, he added new routes to rural villages in Kundapur and Udupi Taluk. In 1985 first express bus service between Chakra Nagar and Mangalore was started. In 1986 Sri Durgamba entered the luxury bus segment with the introduction of daily service to Bangalore. Subsequently services to other places in the State of Karnataka and Kerala were introduced.

Young, dynamic & well qualified Mr. S. Anil Chatra, Mr. S. Sunil Chatra and Mr. S. Suprith Chatra are the managing partners of Sri Durgamba.

The Administrative office is situated near Venkataramana Temple, Kundapura and an advanced workshop is situated near Narayanaguru Kalyana Mantapa, Kundapura.

• 2000 - Luxury bus service started from Mangalore to Davanagere, Hubli, Dharwad and Belgaum.
• 2004 - Bus services started from Udupi to Bagalakote.
• 2005 - 'Air Conditioned AC Sleeper' Coaches introduced in Kundapura - Bangalore route.
• 2009 - 'Non AC Sleeper' and 'Seat cum Sleeper' Coaches were introduced.
• 2010 - Online booking service and website was introduced.
